I know, you have been wondering when the tails would come
into play. I have been sharing tales, and you thought I was just kidding about
the tails. But, we really did have a tail experience during our latest trip to
California. Although, it really was just one tail over and over.
After we spent a few days in Napa, we headed down to Pebble Beach to stay at
The Lodge. First, if you have not been to the Monterey Peninsula, stop whatever
you are doing and book your trip now, as you have been missing out on one of
the most beautiful places in the world!
Upon our arrival, we opened up the French doors that led out onto the balcony
of our second floor room (with an unbelievable ocean view that included the
beach at Carmel), poured some wine and sat back to relax. Soon, we heard a
tapping sound and looked down at our bag of snacks next to the coffee table and
there was a blue bird working hard to peck his way into a bag of crackers! As
we sat there on the couch, no more than two feet away, this bird had joined us
in our room and paid us absolutely no attention as he was attacking our snack
bag! After a brief conversation with the bird, he apparently decided he would
make his way around the room (to the bed, a suitcase, the back of the sofa) and
finally back outside.
As it turned out, our little bird friend ended up visiting us three days in a
row. He was not easily discouraged! And no, we did not feed him our evil human
food. While he certainly was no replacement for hanging out with our adorable
fur kids, it was nice to have a feathery visitor during our trip- even if he
was a little thief that just wanted our snacks!
