Wine professionals sample SFWA offerings at the recent SFWA trade tasting

San Francisco Wine Association

California dreamin' - a delicious Chardonnay!

The current issue of Wine Spectator extols the joys of California Chardonnay wines, in particular the 2007 vintage which featured an almost perfect growing season. With intense tropical flavors and a hint of mineral notes, these wines are sure to please even the most discriminating of palates. Perfectly suited for warmer weather, a cool Chardonnay pairs well with a host of summer fare including crab cakes, fresh oysters, and grilled shrimp.

The SFWA is pleased to have three member wineries that offer terrific 2007 vintage Chardonnays:

Canine Wines - 2007 “Cassidy” Chardonnay - Golden yellow color. Fruity pastry and oak aromas. A round entry leads to a fruity medium body of pear and cream flavors. Finishes with a touch of minerality.

Seawind Wines - 2007 Chardonnay - Winner! Silver medalist at the 2009 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Alive with aromas of tropical fruit, pear, and citrus. Fruit-driven flavors of coconut, pear and lemon with honey and well-integrated oak. Solid acidity gives a crisp finish.

Townley Wines - 2007 Alder Springs Vineyard Chardonnay - Alder Springs is a fantastic vineyard for Chardonnay. Concentrated fruit, combined with traditional fermentation methods, resulted in a wine with wonderful rich body and crisp fruit aromas.

Each of these wines is tremendous, and with limited supply, they won’t be around for long. Visit our Wines page today to make your purchase.

 Spotlight:  Bartz-Allen Winery

Today we highlight another outstanding SFWA winery, Bartz-Allen Winery. Proprietors Tim Allen and Rachel Bartz Allen created Bartz-Allen Winery to share their love of fine wine. Tim has a twenty-year career in luxury wine including work at La Crema, Sonoma-Cutrer, Arrowood, Rosenblum Cellars and Kuleto Estate. Rachel has a great understanding of good food from her work at Williams-Sonoma, and her experience introduces a food-friendly aspect to the wines. The result is a wine you'll be pleased to share with friends and family. You’ll understand their commitment to quality when you taste their outstanding 2007 Pinot Noir (Split Rock Vineyard, Sonoma Coast), available on our Wines page.
